aMaizin! Adventure Park Statement

La Hougue Farms t/a aMaizin! Adventure Park deeply regrets this unfortunate incident for which we accepted liability.

The intervening year taken for the incident to come to court, was very distressing and we are glad that the matter has been resolved and that water quality is recovering and that there has been no long term impact on plant and wild life around La Mare au Siegneur (St Ouen’s Pond).

Although we have been fined £1,000 we are relieved that the Magistrate made reference to taking into consideration the exemplary behaviour of our company since the source of the pollution was identified on our property, and the fact that until this incident we had a completely clean record was reflected in the level of the penalty.

We are grateful to the Environment Department and Jersey Water for their assistance in this matter.

It was an unfortunate accident by a member of staff especially as we take great pride in the environmental management of the Adventure Park and neighbouring area not only because we care about the Island’s environment, but as it is our business and our home.

Once the source of pollution was identified we acted swiftly together with our insurers, co-operating with the authorities to ensure containment and to minimise the impact.

We have also worked closely with those authorities to install state of the art equipment and to implement additional procedures to ensure this will never happen again.’
