A TEAM from ABN AMRO Bank in Jersey has raised over £10,000 for CLIC Sargent Jersey as part of their celebrations to mark 40 years of service to the local community.
The 13-strong team will be crossing the Atlantic to run the New York City Half Marathon on Sunday 16th March, a 13.1-mile course that passes iconic New York landmarks including Central Park and Times Square.
The team, which is made up of staff from all areas of the business and one additional family member, has coordinated a number of fundraising initiates to help reach its fundraising target, including bag packing, soup days, raffles and donations from friends and colleagues.
‘We are quite a sporty bunch and have done a number of endurance events before so it seemed like a great way of celebrating our 40th anniversary in Jersey,’ said Elaine Brady, deputy CFO at ABN AMRO Bank Jersey.
Dawn Munster, senior administrator at ABN AMRO Bank Jersey, commented: ‘We have all been training extremely hard for the event, starting a 12-week fitness programme including regular group runs and gym sessions. The team is made up of a range of ages and abilities and has shown great camaraderie and determination to get fit for the race.’
ABN AMRO Bank has entered teams into a number of other endurance events, including the Chicago Marathon in 2006 and the Rotterdam Marathon in 2012. Every year, teams are entered into the Jersey Marathon to raise money for a variety of local charities.
‘At ABN AMRO Bank we value the importance of promoting healthy living and wellbeing amongst our staff. The New York City Half Marathon represents a great opportunity for us to combine this ethos with a shared passion for community spirit and social responsibility. CLIC Sargent Jersey is a fantastic cause and we hope that the funds raised in March will contribute towards the great work they do in our community,’ said Noel McLaughlin, CFO and head of product and product solutions at ABN AMRO Bank Jersey.
CLIC Sargent Jersey is a leading cancer charity for children and young people and provides support for them and their families. The money raised by the ABN AMRO Bank team will go towards providing clinical, practical, financial and emotional support for young cancer sufferers in Jersey.
