A diamond reason to celebrate Liberation Day with Victim Support
Celebrate Liberation Day in style this year at Victim Support Jersey’s vintage tea dance. Dress up, take a twirl on the dance floor and enjoy afternoon tea at the Royal Yacht Hotel – all for a good cause.
Victim Support Manager Hazel Jury said: “This year is something of a double celebration of the Liberation and then the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and we thought it would be fun to step back in time with an afternoon tea dance – with a bit of glamour thrown in.”
The afternoon starts at 1 pm and guests will be issued with a ‘ration ticket’ which they can redeem for their tea at any point during the afternoon. Guests will dance to a live band and will be joined on the dance floor by professional dancers Roger and Christine Barrett.
“We wanted to make sure that people danced as much as they wanted to without feeling that they are going to miss out on the tea and cakes,” said Hazel. “The afternoon will be a fantastic way to celebrate one of the most important days in the Jersey calendar and raise funds for Victim Support.”
Victim Support offers free and confidential help, information and emotional support to victims of crime, their family, friends and anyone else affected. The charity is not a government agency or part of the police. The charity depends on fund-raising to deliver its service to the victims and witnesses of crime.
Victim Support’s Vintage Tea Dance takes place at the Royal Yacht Hotel on Wednesday 9 May from 1 pm to 6 pm. Tickets are £22.50 and all proceeds will go to Victim Support Jersey. To book a ticket call Victim Support on 440496 or email victimsupport@gov.je.
