Three Jersey residents aim to complete epic charity challenge

Jersey News, 9 March 2010 –David Agnes, Mark Peters, Giles Corbin - Challenge 2010 Three Jersey residents Giles Corbin, a trust and foundations lawyer at Mourant du Feu & Jeune, Mark Peters, a kitchen and bathroom fitter and David Agnes, who runs the perfume business Au Caprice, plan to complete a total of 3,474 kilometres by Kayak, Bicycle and on Foot in an epic, self-propelled charity challenge. The three charity fund raisers have a target to raise £25,000, which equates to £7.60 per kilometre.

The challenge starts, weather permitting, on Wednesday 10 March 2010 with a Kayak paddle from Rozel to the nearest point of France, probably near Portbail. That’s 14.2 nautical miles or 26km as the crow flies. The powerful fast tidal currents between Jersey and France will take the trio anything but in a straight line! Major challenges will be the cold, with a water and air temperature currently below 10C, adverse winds and choppy unprotected open waters. (Anything above a force 3 and this part will be deferred to later in 2010 when conditions are more settled). Continued
